FUNCTIONALITY, AESTHETICS & SUSTAINABILITY

AN ACOUSTIC PANEL MADE FROM MUSHROOMS

Myamo | Prices and awards for our sustainable acoustic panels made out of mycelium

FROM NATURE TO YOUR HOME

SUSTAINABLE & SOUND ABSORBING

Myamo is a sustainable, efficient, modular acoustic panel for indoor use that is created in a growth process based on mycelium, the underground root structure of mushrooms in combination with agricultural waste.

AESTETHIC

Inspired by cell structures in nature, the parametric design produces an interesting aesthetic and harmonic surface offering a wide range of design possibilities.

MYAMOS JOURNEY

In pursuit of an alternative material that does not harm our ecosystem, designer Katharina Querbach feels responsible to develop products based on sustainable materials, thus positively influencing our consumer society towards a circular economy. Read our full story here.

THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Mycelium Substrate

Mycelium is the root network of fungi.
Mycelium material is a sustainable composite material composed of agricultural by-products such as straw.

Forming

The material is crumbled and poured into a mold and stored for a few days.

Growing

Unlike conventional materials, production is characterised by a growth process in which the mycelium breaks down organic material by absorbing nutrients and spreading into roots that serve as binders.

Drying

After one week, the panel is removed from the mold and undergoes a drying process. The fungus stops growing from here on and our panel has taken on the natural white colour of the mycelium.
